Little Samson 2

Following on from the great success I had with the publishing of my two-part series "A Dream Comes True", I am now building another engine!

This is my second major engineering project & third book, this time following the building of a large-scale version of the Little Samson steam tractor as I liked the first one so much but wanted something a bit bigger.

It is being presented as an updatable serialised publication in a smart ring-binder cover.

The finished book will consist of 16 chapters covering the project build, plus a technical section and some information on the original engine, firing, driving, aftercare etc.

It is expected to take approximately two years to complete the engine, and I am hoping to publish a chapter every six to eight weeks.

Each chapter is printed on very high quality 120gsm paper.

It is hoped that some may like to purchase the book this way and follow the ups and downs of this exciting project with me, if not, then the whole book will of course be available as a finished item when the engine is completed - watch this space for details.

With part one, you get the binder with colour cover, introduction, engine overview, notes pages, workshop setup and partial index, PLUS the first three chapters - "Workshop practice", "The boiler, hornplates & spectacle plates" and "The shafts, axle tube & bearings" to get the project going.

Each chapter is crammed with pictures showing machine setups, problems encountered & their solutions as well as finished parts and along the way a picture of the engine as it grows.

As far as I am aware this is the first time a build has ever been documented in this unique way and published.

Each new chapter will be announced on this site or you can request direct email notification if wanted
by emailing me here.

The book was featured in the June 2010 issue of "Old Glory" magazine.

The castings for this fine engine are available from here.
